Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that Government will shortly launch a skill development program – Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana – targeted at Indian youth seeking overseas employment.

General Anti-Avoidance Tax Rule to kick in from April 2017.

The General Anti-Avoidance Rule,GAAR, will kick in from April 1, 2017 said the Central Board for Direct Taxes today. GAAR was part of the 2012-13 Budget speech of the then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to check tax evasion and avoidance.

Sania wins Brisbane women’s doubles title but loses No.1 rank.

Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza picked up her first title of the season, combining with American Bethanie Mattek-Sands to lift the Brisbane International women’s doubles title. The top-seeded Indo-American duo triumphed 6-2 6-3 against the second-seeded Russian team of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the final.

Novak Djokovic wins Qatar Open tennis title.

Novak Djokovic has won the Qatar Open tennis title. In an epic final in Doha today, Djokovic defeated Andy Murray 6-3 5-7 6-4.

Petrol pumps not to accept payment through cards from Monday.

Vehicle owners using cards to purchase fuel will face tough time from Monday as petrol pumps have decided not to accept payments through credit, debit cards since the banks have levied 1 per cent charge for every sale.
